> Fursuit Care Guide
Being thoughtful of your suit's cleanliness before and during suiting is essential to keeping your suit in good condition.

• Wear a balaclava, underarmor, or other alternative sweat-wicking gear.

• Brush your suit's fur after each wear.

• Avoid dirty or staining obstacles when suiting (e.g. mud, paint, eating in suit).

• Be gentle with your suit; seams can pop from rough use.

• Store any fursuit part in a cool, dry environment; use desiccant packets for long-term storage

• Do not store any foam-formed fursuit parts folded.

Your health is the highest priority! Drink water while suiting, take breaks, and be aware of any heat stroke symptoms during long suiting sessions.

Hand wash only

Air dry, NO HEAT

Transport your wet fursuit carefully! Support the weight of the head, do not suspend or carry the suit by its ears, muzzle, or neck.

Foam & fur can double it's weight when wet, which puts stress on the ears, muzzle, and neck when it has to support this extra weight—this can cause popped seams or internal foam-damage.

Do not machine wash or fully submerge your fursuit head in water. Do not use heat or harsh chemicals to clean.

Before washing, remove any detachable accessories, such as tongues or eyelids.

Avoid getting water or isopropyl alcohol on the eyes. Place paper towels over your fursuit's eyes to protect the painted mesh. For flat parts of the eyes, secure the paper towel with tape—do not use electrical or duct tape. Whenever possible, tape to the plastic rather than the liner fabric to avoid leaving residue.

Bissel/Upholstery cleaner

Follow the instructions provided with your machine, use only gentle, non-bleach detergent. Liquid detergent preferred.

Clean all interior areas, focusing on the forehead (which accumulates the most sweat) and the inside of the mouth.

For the exterior, focus on high-touch areas like the nose and cheeks, as well as any white markings, which can show dirt more easily.

After cleaning, towel dry thoroughly, brush it out. Place the head upside down, and unzip the neck to ensure airflow to the inside of the head. Never use a dryer or hair dryer; instead, place it in front of a fan (if possible). Always ensure your suit is completely dry before storing or using it again.

You don’t need to wash your tail after every use, only clean it if it looks visibly dirty. Spot cleaning is sufficient for most dirt from running around with your tail. Hand paws and bodysuits need more frequent washing, they should be cleaned after conventions or after an hour or more of suiting.

Remove any possible stuffing from bodysuits, tails, or paws before washing. Store it in a pillowcase while cleaning and drying your suit. Remove all detachable accessories—most importantly, unzip the legs from your bodysuit.

Wash your bodysuit inside out, focusing on sweaty areas like the armpits.

Hand paws and tails can be cleaned as they are. Focus on visibly dirty spot or areas that contact surfaces frequently, like the palms of the paws.

After cleaning, towel dry thoroughly, brush it out, and let it dry flat. Never use a dryer or hair dryer; instead, place it in front of a fan (if possible). Always ensure your suit is completely dry before storing or using it again.

Dry bodysuits flat—do not hang them, as the weight of wet fur can stretch the fabric and put tension on the neck and zipper. For best results, drape the suit over a drying rack to support the torso and legs.

If you don’t have a drying rack, lay some towels flat on the floor and place your bodysuit on top. Flip the suit occasionally to ensure both the front and back dry evenly.

Place tail or hand paws in a mesh laundry bag or pillow case. Bodysuits should be turned inside out.

Fill a bathtub (or large plastic tub) with cold water and add gentle, non-bleach detergent. Liquid detergent preferred.

Soak the fursuit and massage in the detergent. If the water becomes dirty, drain the tub, and re-fill with water and detergent. Repeat until water no longer becomes discoloured.

Drain the water, refill with clean water, and rinse thoroughly, squeezing out the detergent. Repeat until all detergent is rinsed out.

Drain the tub and gently wring out the suit before removing it from the bathtub for further drying.

Keep the bottoms of your fursuit's feet clean by using fursuit sandals or plastic bags when in any particularly dirty areas, like parks, roads, or forests. This is especially important for indoor feet paws.

 Hand washing

• Focus on cleaning the inside of the feetpaws, where your skin makes contact with the fursuit. Mix 50/50 water and isopropyl alcohol, dip a cloth into the mixture, and wipe down the interior thoroughly.

• To clean the sole of feet paws, wipe them down with disinfecting wipes or a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water mixture.

• Your indoor-style soles may need more attention. Mix water with a small amount of gentle liquid detergent, then use a cloth soaked in the mixture to wipe down the soles thoroughly. Rinse out any leftover soap residue with clean water.

After cleaning, brush it out and air dry the feetpaws. Never use a dryer or hair dryer; instead, place it in front of a fan (if possible). Always ensure your suit is completely dry before storing or using it again.
